Winter Walks

From rugged coastal paths to windswept woodlands, Winter is the perfect time to get out and about and experience the dramatic scenery Cornwall has to offer. With this in mind, we have put together a little guide of our favourite local walks to inspire adventure...

Idless Woods

First on the list is Idless Woods, located near Truro. Sprawling with large beech, larch and eucalyptus trees, Idless becomes all the more enchanting over Winter. With many trails to choose from (albeit a little muddy in the colder months!), no two walks at Idless are ever the same. Whether you venture towards the Iron Age hill fort or make your way to the River Allen at the western end of the forest, you and your four-legged friend are sure to find something exciting.

Valency Valley to Boscastle Harbour

Situated in North Cornwall, Boscastle is a firm favourite when it comes to out of season ramblings. Although only small, this picturesque village is full of winter appropriate dog walks, perhaps the most famous being Valency Valley. To get the best experience of Boscastle, we would recommend a wander through the ancient valley, followed by a stroll down to the harbour. Conveniently there is a large car park located between the two destinations, and a cafe or three along the way for a warming hot chocolate!

Godrevy

There's nothing like a brisk coastal walk during winter to refresh your senses and break you away from that series you've been binge watching! Godrevy offers stunning views and long stretches of golden sand, perfect for those dry winter days. We like to walk around the perimeter of the coastal path to search for seals and then head down to the beach for a quick run around; doggy paradise.

Respryn

One of the inspirations behind our very own Aflora designs, Respryn woods is an area of breathtaking beauty all-year-round. With an abundance of wildlife and countless trails, this is the perfect location for a winter woodland walk. Our favourite route runs alongside the river and leads in a loop through the woods.

Widemouth Bay

Bude has many beaches to choose from, but top of our list has to be Widemouth Bay. Located just south of Bude centre, this long stretch of beach provides one of our favourite views in Cornwall. Take in the scenery, treat yourself to a hot chocolate and wrap up warm!

...So, what are you waiting for! Grab your wellies, layer up and get exploring!
