Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

Mental Health Awareness Week 2020

Monday 18th May sees the start of Mental Health Awareness Week which is organised by the Mental Health Foundation.

During the week, a campaign which reaches millions of people each year raises awareness on a number of topics in relation to mental health conditions. It also raises money to fund projects that help people cope with stress, anxiety, depression and the issues surrounding them.

This year’s theme is kindness which is something that we have all seen through the recent Coronavirus pandemic. We have learnt that amid the fear, there is also community, support and hope and the added benefit of helping others is that it is good for our own mental health and wellbeing.

At Natural Cornish Pet we also want to celebrate the kindness of our pets and the role that they play in our own wellbeing. Animals such as dogs are great facilitators; the connection they develop with their owners, coupled with exercise, getting outdoors and socialising with other pet owners, offer great benefit and have helped many people during the recent Covid 19 lockdown to cope.

During Mental Health Awareness Week Natural Cornish Pet Shop will be running a number of initiatives. Firstly, we will be holding a Facebook competition to win a hamper of tasty treats for your dog, a comfort box for humans from the Cosy Chocolate Company and some toiletries to pamper yourself with from The Somerset Toiletry Company.

Along with sharing thoughts and notes from our team on how Covid 19 has affected them and their own four-legged friends, inspiring ways to stay entertained, and talking about the important work of Pet Therapy Dogs and the beneficial part they play within communities. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram between 18 - 24th May for all updates. #MentalHealthAwareness
