Our Best Grain Free Dog Treats

A Guide To A Few Of Our Best Grain Free Dog Treats

At Natural Cornish Pet, we are committed to providing you, our fantastic customers, with the best treats we can procure, or ones that we make ourselves. We also are aware of how important it is for those treats to be perfect for your pooch in every possible way, and with our superb selection we know we can cater for your delightful dogs, whatever treats they may be partial to.

One of the big things we found out early on in our dog care journey (we spent years running a doggy daycare before opening Natural Cornish Pet) was; that treats containing grains can cause a whole host of issues for your canine companions, including but not limited to; diabetes, allergies and exacerbation of digestive tract issues. With this in mind, we have always tried to stock as many gorgeous grain-free treats, chews and foods as we can, so your dogs can enjoy some luxuries whilst maintaining your peace of mind!

In today’s post, we will be shining a light on some of our favourite, best-selling grain-free treats, so next time you’re filling up a basket of goodies at Natural Cornish Pet, in-store or online, for your furriest of friends, you’ll know exactly where to start.

Why Grain-Free Dog Treats are the Best

Traditionally, grains were used in dog treats and foods as a ‘filler’, a cheap way of bulking foods and filling up a dog's stomach, rather than using nutritionally rich ingredients such as vegetables and meats. These grain-based fillers are also often made from by-products from the production of human food and are regularly deemed unfit for human consumption, and, frankly, would you feel happy feeding your dog something you would refuse to eat? Another aspect of using these grains is that many of them are produced using GMO and harmful pesticides, as there can be less strict regulation on what can be put into pet foods, this can be massively harmful to the environment, another thing we are dedicated to avoiding.

Although dogs have evolved, through their domestication, to be able to digest non-meat ingredients, it is important to make sure we don't just fill them up on any old thing and make an effort to ensure that every ingredient in a treat or food is as nutritionally complete as possible.

Not all treats that contain grains are necessarily bad for your perfect pooches but, more often than not, they won’t be the best option.
