July's Dog-Friendly Destination
This month we are trying something a little new. We will be changing our journal a bit to include some regular monthly features. These will include products of the month, charities of the month and a delightful dog-friendly destination of the month. Most of our doggy destinations will be based in Cornwall as it is the county we know and love the most, however, we would also love to hear from you, our lovely readers, about your recommendations too, wherever they might be. Whether it's a brilliant beach, an awesome activity, a superb dog-friendly cafe or simply a favourite place to wander we’d love to hear all about it.
We thought we would go in for something big and bold for our first edition of Dog-Friendly Destinations with a Cornish Classic, The Eden Project!
The Eden Project, nestled in the heart of Cornwall just a stone's throw away from St. Austell, is a true marvel that showcases the beauty and diversity of our natural planet. With its iconic biomes and stunning outdoor gardens, it's a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. And guess what? Your furry friend can join in on the fun too! The Eden Project warmly welcomes dogs, ensuring that your canine companion can be a part of your memorable day out. So, grab the leash and let's embark on a dog-friendly adventure at the Eden Project!
Exploring the Outdoor Gardens
As you step into the Eden Project, the captivating sight of the outdoor gardens will leave you and your furry pal in awe. The sprawling landscapes, bursting with colourful blooms and fragrant scents, create an enchanting atmosphere. With your dog happily trotting alongside you, you and your dog can explore the extensive pathways that wind through these marvellous gardens.
You'll find plenty of dog waste bins throughout the premises, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment as well as plenty of watering stations throughout. Remember to keep your pup on a lead and be respectful of other visitors by keeping them under control. As you wander through the gardens, you can also take a moment to sit on one of the many benches and soak up the tranquillity while your furry friend takes in the sights, sounds, and scents of nature.
Visiting the Biomes
The highlight of any visit to the Eden Project is undoubtedly the magnificent biomes. These colossal structures house some of the world's most fascinating plant species, recreating diverse ecosystems from rainforests to Mediterranean climates. While dogs are not allowed inside the biomes due to the controlled environments, there are designated shaded areas where you can spend a moment with your dog taking a well-earned rest whilst the rest of your party can explore the biomes and you can be rested and ready to swap responsibilities when they emerge.
The Eden Project provides dedicated dog-watching areas with water bowls and secure points to tie your dog's lead. These spots ensure you and your canine friend are comfortable and cared for while your party delves into the tropical wonders within the biomes. It's essential to note that the Eden Project has a limited number of spots available, so it's advisable to arrive early to secure a spot for you and your furry pal.
To make your visit even more enjoyable, the Eden Project offers a range of dog-friendly facilities. You'll find water stations strategically placed throughout the site, ensuring that your furry friend stays hydrated on warm days. Additionally, there are shaded areas where your dog can take a break from the sun and relax.
If you fancy a bite to eat, the Eden Project's dining options are pet-friendly too! Choose from a variety of food outlets that offer outdoor seating areas where you can enjoy a delicious meal while your dog rests by your side. It's always a good idea to have some treats handy for your pup, ensuring they don't feel left out when you indulge in the culinary delights on offer.
While the Eden Project warmly welcomes dogs, it's crucial to practice good doggy etiquette during your visit. Always keep your furry friend on a lead and ensure they are well-behaved around other visitors. Remember to clean up after your dog by using the provided waste bins. By being a responsible pet owner, you help maintain a harmonious environment for everyone to enjoy.
A visit to the Eden Project really is an unforgettable experience, and the fact that it's dog-friendly makes it even more special. From exploring the vibrant outdoor gardens to admiring the awe-inspiring biomes, you and your furry companion can create lasting memories together. The Eden Project's dedication to providing dog-friendly facilities ensures that every member of the family, including the four-legged ones, can partake in this remarkable adventure through the flora of the world.
So why not grab the lead, pack some treats, and head to the Eden Project for the perfect day out with your pooch?
