Boxing Day Walks with Your Four-Legged Friends

The Best Dog Friendly Beaches and Dog Walking Spots in Cornwall

Looking to go somewhere new this boxing day? Cornwall is a beautiful place, with an abundance of great walks, especially during this time of the year. So we wanted to share our favourite dog friendly boxing day walks, to inspire you to get out in the fresh air with your four-legged friends.

Porthkidney Beach, Hayle

One of Cornwall’s largest dog friendly beaches, Porthkidney sits in St Ives bay, along the St Ives coastal path. This is a very popular dog walking spot, and when the tide is out the beach becomes extremely spacious. Expect a tired doggy after a good long run around and beautiful views of Godrevy and Gwithian. Find information on tide times here.

Cardinham Woods, Bodmin

Cornwall might be famous for its beautiful beaches but some of Cornwall’s best woodlands offer endless options for exploring. Why not take a stroll through the mixed woodland slopes of Cardinham Woods? Parking is very reasonable at £3 for the day, meaning you can take your time to explore all the different trails. If you plan to make a day of it, there are several picnic spots so ideal for a left-over Christmas sandwich picnic.

Tehidy Woods, Redruth

Tehidy is the largest area of woodland in West Cornwall and is a lovely spot to walk your four-legged friend. There is free car parking located at the; North Cliffs, East Drive and South Drive entrances and routes for all levels of fitness. So if you’re tired after a busy Christmas day and looking to take it easy, or looking to burn off a few of the mince pies, there’s something for everyone.

Marazion, Penzance

Although not dog friendly all year round, Marazion is a popular beach for dog walkers in the off-season. With views onto the iconic St Michael’s Mount, and Godolphin arms resting just above it’s easy to see the appeal. The beach is large and the sea is generally safe so it’s ideal for water babies. If you follow the coastal path along to Perranuthnoe, past the old mine workings at Trenow, it makes a lovely coastal walk.
