Our Favourite Dog-Friendly Cafes in Cornwall: Autumn 2022

With Autumn arriving in September and the weather starting to misbehave, one of our favourite things to do is to snuggle up in a local eatery with our favourite four-legged friends after a brisk walk, and while away an afternoon with fabulous foods, blissful beverages and the best company a human being could wish for!

In Cornwall, we are blessed with a veritable cornucopia of amazing places to eat, drink and be merry. There are also a great deal more venues that are opening their doors to our canine companions too, allowing for delightful day trips, lazy afternoons and beautiful breakfasts with our best friends by our sides.

In today’s post, we will be giving you our top recommendations for dining day trips alongside your dogs in Cornwall this Autumn. We will also be giving you a lowdown of their offerings and local walks that can include these resplendent restaurants and cosy cafes along the way, so your day trip in the Cornish countryside goes without a hitch.

Eat Out With Your Dog in Cornwall This Autumn

In our opinion (we are extremely biased!), Cornwall has to be one of the best counties, in the UK, to spend some time, out and about, with your canine companions by your side. And what could be better than exploring the best of the Cornish cliffs, coastline and countryside with the thought of a well-earned treat at the culmination of your explorations?

Geevor Tin Mine and Count House Cafe

Formerly known as the North Levant Mine, Geevor Tin Mine is a former mine-come-museum located in the West of Cornwall, just a short drive from our base in Hayle. The mine was operational until 1990 and since 2006 has been designated as a part of a UNESCO world heritage site, the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Today Geevor is a multi-award-winning attraction and museum with one of our favourite cafes in the area right next door.

Count House Cafe is open from Sunday to Thursday and serves up a resplendent range of top-quality Cornish foods made with all the love and care you’d hope for. We love the ethos behind the menus at Count House, they source and buy as much Cornish produce and raw ingredients as they possibly can, which leads to some of the freshest and most delicious eats in the area. They are dog-friendly all year round and you can use the cafe even if you’re not visiting the mine. There are also a plethora of beautiful walks in the area local to Count House, such as this one HERE> from southwestcaostpath.org.uk, which starts and ends in the car park next door.

Birdies Cafe

Just over a mile away from our head office in Hayle and sitting on the edge of the magical RSPB Hayle nature reserve is the brilliant Birdies Bistro. Open seven days a week, this beguiling bistro serves up classic English dishes with imaginative twists and has been open since 2013 under the careful eye of Jenni and Dom. With experience in high-class establishments across the county this captivating couple has brought a little bit of class to the cafe culture of west Cornwall and boy do we adore it! We love to kick back with a drink, something tasty to eat, our dogs by our side and treat ourselves to views over the estuary and the nature reserve at pretty much any time of the year.

Apple Tree Cafe

Sitting just a mile from Lands End, the wonderful walks that stretch of the coast path has to offer and some of the best beaches in the area, lies the awesome Apple Tree Cafe.

Apple Tree Cafe Lands End Cornwall

This family-friendly cafe has one of the warmest atmospheres we’ve experienced in a Cornish cafe and offers, breakfasts, lunches, light snacks and a regal range of cakes, coffees and boozy beverages. The wonderful staff at Apple Tree Cafe keep the menus fresh and exciting with a range of Cornish-led seasonal produce and service that never fails to come with a smile. The perfect spot to refuel after a hard day walking and exploring the very southern tip of our fine county, and the UK!
